Government seeks public, private partnership to make Volta Lake major transport hub
 
Government is feverishly putting in place the needed infrastructural facilities to make the transportation of people, goods and services on the Volta Lake safe, human-centred and secured.
 
As a result, government is encouraging public, private partnership to make the Volta Lake a major transport hub between the southern and the northern sector of the country.

In an interview with Radio Ghana in Accra, Minister of Transport,  Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, said government is about to construct reception centres and terminals on the Volta Lake for commuters and operators.
 
Also, the Ghana Maritime Authority has been directed to purchase speed boats to augment transportation of persons, goods and services as well as ensure that all safety measures are strictly adhered to by boat operators. 

Mr. Ofori Asiamah said government has secured a loan facility from the HSBC to complete the construction of a terminal at the old PWD yard and others dotted in and around Accra to enhance the operations of the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, project by the end of the year.
