Former President Kufuor Consoles Kotoko FC

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed his sadness at Wednesday’s accident at Nkawkaw in the Eastern region that claimed the lives of one person, Kofi Asare, the Equipment Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football club.

The accident occurred when the bus on which players and officials of Kotoko were travelling run into a truck at Nkawkaw on the Accra-Kumasi road.
 
Kotoko were returning to their Kumasi base after a mid-week league match against Inter-Allies Football Club at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

A statement from the office of the former president which was signed by his Spokesperson/Special Aide, Frank Agyekum and copied to GBCONLINE, said Former President Kufuor, also former chairman of Kotoko, said his "thoughts and prayers" were with the bereaved family as well as the injured and the entire team.

He called for calm among the playing body and the fans and urged drivers to be more circumspect while on the road.
