FDA and other Agencies to crackdown on media houses which air unapproved advertisements The Food and Drugs Authority, the Security Agencies and Media Regulators would henceforth crackdown on Media Houses that air unapproved advertisements. The Director of Communication of the Food and Drugs Authority, James Lartey, said meetings with the security agencies on the issue have yielded positive results and erring Media Houses will face sanctions. Speaking on our Current Affairs programme "Focus", Mr. Lartey said most of the Media Houses are flouting the Food and Drugs Authority regulations on advertisements. The Chief Executive of the Advertisers' Association of Ghana, Francis Dadzie, said it is unfortunate that most Media Houses have no regard for professional standards when it comes to advertisements but only focus on monetary gains. He said Media Houses must have committees to vet advertisements and approve them before being aired. A Lecturer in Media Ethics and Head, Department of Public Relations Management, Faculty of IT and Communication Studies, University for Professional Studies, Dr. Kweku Rockson, said it has taken the Food and Drugs Authority too long to crack the whip on erring Media Houses and advertisers. He called on the Food and Drugs Authority to expand its monitoring regime to sanitise the system. GBCONLINE
