Gonja traditional authorities ban charcoal burning, wood logging

The Gonja Traditional Council has placed a ban on commercial charcoal burning and wood logging due to their environmental effects.

According to the Registrar of the Council, Kapori Abutu, wood loggers in the community do not re-plant any trees to replace the ones they fell and the emissions created by charcoal burning are disturbing the atmosphere.
  
Speaking to GBC`s George Ankrah, Mr Abutu said the traditional Council is yet to meet with the wood loggers and charcoal burners to get them to comply with the directive.
