“Go and sin no more” – Speaker tells Mahama Ayariga Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Oquaye has asked Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga, to “Go and sin no more” after his final ruling on the bribery allegation in Parliament last night. He declared, “May you never peddle such expensive rumour in your affairs in Parliament.” The Speaker made these comments after Mr. Ayariga was asked to read his apology letter on the Floor of Parliament. Professor Oquaye said after carefully examining the facts of the case Mr. Ayariga should be shown what he termed a quality of mercy on this occasion. The Speaker warned that Mr. Ayariga will have himself to blame if the conduct is repeated in the future. He quoted provisions of the Constitution, Standing Orders of the House and cited cases of similar nature in the Indian Parliament in his ruling and reminded Members of the House of the sanctions that may be brought upon any member who misconduct him or herself. The Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga read his apology letter to the House from his seat and not from the Bar of Parliament. GBC
