Nkrumah overthrow 'spelt dark days' for Ghana - K. B. Asante Elder Statesman, K.B. Asante, who worked directly with the first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, says the overthrow of the first President on the 24th February, 1966, spelt the dark days of Ghana. He told Radio Ghana's George Ankrah, that Dr. Nkrumah's vision of agriculture modernisation and mechanisation as well as industrializing the country, could be tapped to push forward the country's development. Mr. Asante called for co-operation and the rejuvenation of the can-do-spirit because the future of Ghana depends on Ghanaians. Meanwhile, a Pan Africanist and editor of The Insight, Kwesi Pratt, says he does not see how any illegality can be beneficial to anybody or country. Speaking to Radio Ghana on the 1966 coup d’état, Mr. Pratt said that coup d’état is a shame to Africa and Ghana. Mr. Pratt called for a deep reflection on the coup and its negative impact on Ghana and Africa. GBC
