Government will not interfere with Bimbilla chieftaincy issue – Interior Minister The Minister for Interior, Ambrose Derry, says government will not interfere in the Bimbilla chieftaincy matter but will do all it can to ensure peace and security in the area. He explained that it is the work of the traditional authorities and the Houses of Chiefs to resolve the substantive issue of who occupies the skin of the traditional area. Ten persons were reported dead, eleven injured and twenty-one houses burnt. The Minister stated this when he made a statement on the floor of parliament on the Bimbilla situation in the Northern region. He alluded to the challenges that need to be addressed in the area. The Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu questioned the security agencies on why they failed in responding to the situation under early warning signs and deployment principles. The Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was not happy about the discussion of details of matters of national security in the open and entreated members to be circumspect when they are commenting on matters that border on security.
