The Daily Graphic titles its editorial “Ghana Time must change.”  Following President Akufo-Addo's maiden State of Nation Address which stressed on punctuality, proper sanitation and care for the environment, the paper wishes to press home the demand for an aggressive campaign for a time conscious populace who are well primed for action at any given time. The paper says the issue of time has been a very challenging one for majority of Ghanaians, evident in the comparatively late times that invitees, especially state officials, arrive at functions, as against the scheduled time. The Daily Graphic believes the change that Ghanaians yearn for can be achieved when one positive indicator of time and consciousness becomes a code by which we all live.

The Ghanaian Times calls on Ghanaians, including politicians of all sides to support the new government in resolving the country's socio-economic problems for the benefit of all. The paper believes the government has the capacity and a competent team to resolve the current economic challenges, but that will be done by building on what the previous governments have left. According to the Times, critics of the government will however want to critique his speech, and refer the President to some of the areas he did not touch on. But this, the paper said, is normal as a country that champions democracy.

The Daily Heritage describes as refreshing President Akufo-Addo's announcement on the restoration of teacher trainees allowance during his address to parliament. The paper said it will be a betrayal on the part of government if the ruling party did not show any commitment to fulfil campaign promises. The daily Heritage believes the restoration of the allowance will go a long way to encourage quality education and professionalism.
