DR Congo cannot afford $1.8bn cost to organize 2017 election -Minister The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo says it will not be able to afford an agreed Presidential election this year. Budget Minister Pierre Kangudia said the cost of organising the poll, which is said to be one point eight billion dollars is too expensive. Last year the government and the opposition agreed that new elections would be held by the end of 2017.
