Korle-Bu: First lady cuts sod for building to house parents of ‘cancer children’ The first lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of a three storey building at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to accommodate parents with children suffering from childhood cancer. The facility which is the brainchild of the Ghana Association of Parents against Childhood Cancer comes at a time when such parents are forced to sleep beside their sick children due to lack of accommodation. The ceremony was also part of activities to mark International Day against Childhood Cancer. Speaker after speaker made a case for childhood cancer treatment to be included on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). According to them cases of childhood cancer are on the increase.
