Major General Obed Akwa named Acting CDS

Major General Obed Akwa has been named Acting Chief of  the Defence Staff (CDS). 

He takes over from Air Vice Marshal Samson Oje whose retirement was announced today (Feb. 9), after 42 years of service.  

Major General William Azure Ayamdo has also been named Acting Chief of Army Staff following the elevation of Major General Akwa. 

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Maxwell Mantsebi Tei Nagai and Chief of Navy Staff, Real Admiral Peter Kofi Faido have been retained at their current position. 

President Akufo-Addo made the appointments at the Flagstaff House. 

Meanwhile, the former Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal Samson Oje has predicted a bright future for the Ghana Armed Forces under President Akufo-Addo.

He was happy about the peace keeping allowance which has boosted the moral of the forces. 

Air Vice Marshall Oje said this when he officially informed President Akufo-Addo about his retirement from the Ghana Armed Forces.

President Akufo-Addo was grateful for his Service to Ghana.
