Upsurge in lesbianism in second cycle institutions in Mampong 

The Mampong Municipal Directorate of Education in the Ashanti Region has expressed serious concern about reports of lesbianism being practiced in second cycle institutions in the Municipality. 

The Public Relations Officer at the Municipal Education Directorate, Asumadu Appiah-Agyei, described the situation as alarming and an affront to Ghana’s cultural norms which the youth should not entertain. 

Mr. Appiah-Agyei was speaking at the Student Representative Council Week celebration at the Kofiase Adventist Senior High Technical School.

He condemned the attitude of male teachers who engage in amorous relationship with  unsuspecting female students. 

He stated that the Code of Conduct for teachers explicitly does not allow such relationship and warned teachers to desist from it. 

A Lecturer at the College of Agriculture Education of the University of Education, Winneba, Reverend Kwame Nkrumah Hope called for the strengthening of the Inspectorate Division of the Ghana Education Service to enhance its operations.
