Changes in Police top hierarchy necessary - Security Expert Last week, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Asante Apeatu announced transfers and changes in the police top hierarchy. The question is, is this the first time transfers have been effected in the Ghana Police Service? What is the rationale behind these changes and what impact has previous transfers or changes had on security in the country. Radio Ghana seeks the views of a Security Expert, Adib Sanni who says such transfers are necessary to strengthen security and is important to sanitise the police Service periodically. On the implications that the country may likely face some problems for dismissing some police recruits, Mr. Sanni said the recruits might have been privy to sensitive state information or intelligence strategy which might be used against the people and the state.
