CEO of Fair Wages and Salaries Commission tenders-in resignation letter to President

Reports reaching Radio Ghana indicate that the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), George Smith-Graham, has written to the presidency to tender in his resignation. 

In a letter dated February 8, 2017, Mr Smith-Graham is quoted as saying his resignation will take effect on May 9, in line with his contract of giving a three-month notice before the action. 

Mr Smith-Graham said his letter is to serve the required length of notice of three months. 

In his letter to the President, he said it was a great honour to have served his country as the Chief Executive of the Commission over the last eight years. 

He added ‘During his tenure, I enjoyed the support of a dedicated team made up of directors and staff of FWSC, as well as Organized Labour and the Ministries of Employment, Finance among others. “I am very grateful to the Presidency and every person, institutions that gave and continue to give me the needed support for the successful implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy.’ 

Mr Smith-Graham stated that he wants to pursue other personal interests upon resignation. 

He was appointed head of the public sector salary-negotiating body in 2011 to see to the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy. 

Three phases of the implementation were achieved under Mr Smith-Graham, who was appointed by the late President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
