Promote Primary Health Care to reduce cancer related diseases - Specialists

As the World observes Cancer Day, people with cancer conditions are advised to report early to health facilities for treatment. 

According to a Medical Officer at the Korle - Bu Polyclinic, Dr. Ernest Anim Opare, prostate, cervical and breast cancers are on the rise.  

For him, what is important now is for Ghanaians to report to the hospital early, if they see any swelling or rashes on the body for treatment.  

He also cautioned Ghanaians not to resort to the use of herbal drugs because of the likely side effects.  

A former Deputy Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr.  George Amofa, strongly believes deadly diseases will be reduced at health facilities when the country's health system prioritises Primary Health Care at the community level.
