Political Scientist predicts increase in female MPs in next Parliament

A Political Scientist at the University of Ghana, Alexander K.D Frimpong, has expressed worry over Ghana's inability to attain the 30 percent women representation in parliament.

He said out of the 53 women contesting parliamentary seats on the tickets of both the NDC and NPP in this year's election, between 30 and 40 are likely to win.

Mr Frimpong said in the likely event that these numbers of women get into Parliament; it will still be below the 30percent international requirement.
 
He was speaking on the topic the Female Factor in Election 2016 at the Department of Political Science, University of Ghana.
