Indonesia castration law 'will wipe out paedophilia'

Indonesia is to "wipe out" paedophilia with its new policy of chemical castration. 

The President Joko Widodo said Indonesia respects human rights but there will be no compromise when it comes to punishing such sexual crimes.

Indonesia passed controversial laws earlier this month authorizing chemical castration for paedophiles.
 
The laws were subject to fierce debate in parliament. 

President Widodo said they will hand out the maximum penalty for the offenders because there has been a series of high-profile cases of child sex abuse in Indonesia.
