Instill discipline in your children-Minister advises Christian’s mothers

The 8th Edition of Diocesan Conference of Christian Mothers Association from the Navrongo-Bolgatanga diocese has been held at Kongo in the Nabdam district of the Upper East region, with a call on parents to make it their topmost priority to instill in their children a greater sense of discipline. 

The Upper East Regional Minister, Albert Abongo, who made the call advised parents to impart cherished Christian values in their children such as respect for adults and authority, honesty and above all the love of God and mankind as Jesus Christ taught his followers. 

The conference brought together Christian mothers from all the parishes of the upper east region and part of Northern region that make up the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese. 

The event aimed at bringing all mothers in the diocese together to discuss issues pertaining to the smooth running and the upliftment of standards of life in the association.  

The Upper East Regional Minister, Albert Abongo, said the canker of indiscipline which is of national concern has extended its tentacles to every corner of the society and was worried that the youth whom the future of the country lies is the worst affected.  

He expressed fears that if society failed to do something about this trend, the youth may have a bleak future. 

Mr. Abongo therefore admonished parents to discipline their wards and ensure they eschewed negative attitudes and lifestyle such as sexual immorality, alcoholism, drug abuse and gossiping among others. 

He said though most parents appear to be engaged in these vices, it behooved them to lead good and exemplary lives for the youth to emulate. 

He said this was the only way that parents can function effectively as vessels and mirror for the youth. 

Mr. Abongo also advised parents’ especially Christian mothers to take their Christian life seriously without neglecting their duties and responsibilities as women. 

Speaking on the theme, "Do Whatever He Tells You", the Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Atidoo, impressed mothers to read and obey what the Bible preaches the same way Blessed Virgin Mary did at the wedding in Canaan. 

He said it was through obedience that they will achieve good results. 

The Diocesan President of the Christian Mothers Association, Mrs. Gemma Kazaresam, said the conference offers mothers the opportunity to formulate strategies and measures that will change their lives towards the wellbeing of their families and society.
