24 parliamentary aspirants disqualified in Ashanti region The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Serebour Quarcoo, has told GBC’s Radio Ghana in Kumasi that 24 out of the 240 persons will not be able contest in the December 7 Parliamentary election. The Regional EC Director explained that, the major factor that disqualified the 24 aspirants was their inability to pay the stipulated Filing Fee of GHC 10, 000. According to Mr. Serebour however, all the major political parties have had their candidates sailing through the processes successfully. The lucky parties are the CPP, NPP, NDC, PPP and the PNC as well as some Independent candidates. He said the next stage of the election processes will be the publication of nominees to be followed by balloting for positions on the Ballot Papers by the candidates. GBC
