State Prosecutor in the trial of Gregory Afoko wants interpreter changed 

The State Prosecutor in the trial of Gregory Afoko who is accused of murdering the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adams Mahama is challenging the competency of the interpreter in the case. 

The wife of the late NPP Chairman, Hajia Zenabu Mahama, was expected to continue with her evidence before the High Court but Chief State Attorney, Matthew Amponsah raised issues with the conduct of the interpreter at the last hearing.

Mrs Mahama gave her evidence in chief in Hausa which was subsequently translated into English.

Counsel for the accused, Lawyer Ekow Ampah Korsah however opposed the move arguing that the state wants to force words into the interpreter's mouth which should not be allowed. 

The Judge, Justice Lawrence Mensah, also ordered authorities of the Nsawam Prisons to send Gregory to the nearest medical center for assessment of his swollen arm.
 
The case has been adjourned to the 1st of November.
