Government reduces price of text and exercise books Government has removed the 17.5% VAT on the pre-production inputs of exercise and text books. This has resulted in a 12% reduction in purchase price of all text and exercise books. The Chief Executive of the Ghana Printers and Paper convertors Association, Joseph Appiah Berko announced this at a news conference in Accra. He said the removal of the tax came about as a result of series of advocacy and interactions with government on the VAT law. Mr. Appiah Berko said the association's next agenda will be to push for the removal of the 5% custom duty on the importation of raw materials. The goal is to further reduce prices of books. GBC
