Colombia peace deal to be signed with "bullet pens"-UN Mission

A historic peace agreement between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) is to be signed with "bullet pens", according to the UN Mission in the country.

According to media reports, the pens were commissioned by the authorities as a symbol of peace and a reminder of the need to invest in education.

The accord brings to an end a 50-year long conflict.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is in the port city of Cartagena to attend the signing ceremony of the peace deal to end the decades-long conflict.

Mr. Ban will also receive a bullet pen, to commemorate the event.

Following the signing ceremony, the Secretary-General will meet with the FARC Commander, Timoleon Jimenez also known as "Timochenko".

The agreement between FARC and the Colombian authorities has to be approved by a national referendum due to take place in October.
