Family demands justice after Police Commander knocks down girl

The family of a two and half year old girl knocked down and killed at the James Town Police Barracks by the Teshie District Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Yembilla is demanding justice in the case. 

The visibly traumatised mother of the deceased, Solace Akorfa Deku said she wants nothing but the immediate prosecution of the Police Commander. 

Madam Deku said she feels sad that since the incident happened about 10 months ago, no administrative action has been taken against the police officer, instead he was transferred and promoted. 

Meanwhile, Supt Yembilla has declined to comment on the story.

In a related development, a Private Legal Practitioner and Law Lecturer at the Central University, Yaw Oppong says the parents of the little girl can initiate civil action against the Police Commander. 

He said though it will not bring back their daughter to life, it may at least satisfy them that justice has been done.
