Two jailed 30 years for robbery Two persons who snatched a handbag from a woman at Musuku in Accra have been jailed 15 years each by an Accra Circuit Court. The convicts, Prince Adom - a welder, and Yaw Fosu - a mechanic, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and robbery were convicted on their own plea. The handbag and its contents were retrieved. Before their sentencing, the convicts who had no lawyer pleaded with the court for mercy. The Judge, Aboagye Tandoh said the convicts are young and therefore considers the 15 year jail term as deterrent enough. The Judge also said that he handed them the minimum sentence for robbery because some of the items have been retrieved. On the 20th of this month, at about 2.00pm, the convicts who were riding on a motorbike trailed the complainant to a spot and attacked her with a knife. They escaped with their booty but on reaching Dome in Accra, the motorbike collided with a taxi cab and they were arrested. GBC
