NGO supports Wa Methodist School for the Blind


A Tema based NGO, The Beautiful Heart Foundation has made a donation to the Wa Methodist School for the Blind. 

The gesture is part of the NGO’s benevolence project christened “the girl-child project” in which it is donating sanitary pads to the visually impaired school girls. 

Radio Ghana's Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo, who witnessed the event, said the President of the Beautiful Heart Foundation, Mrs. Selma Korley led a 10-member delegation to present the package to the School in Wa in the Upper West Region. 

The package, apart from the sanitary pads, included rice, sugar, toilet rolls and soft drinks. 

Mrs. Korley who presented the items said members of the Foundation were happy to be in Wa to touch the lives of the students of the Wa School for the Blind and hoped the students will be happy in respect of the support. 

She indicated that the gesture was aimed at instilling the spirit of voluntarism in the youth for the good of society. 

The Assistant Headmistress of the Wa School for the Blind, Mrs. Millicent Boom who received the items, thanked the Foundation for what she described as “the timely support”. 

She said “the students have just reported for school and many of them are needy with some lacking basic necessities” adding that donation of sanitary pads and other items will go a long way to help the very disadvantaged. 

Mrs. Boom entreated others to emulate the gesture of the Foundation by reaching out to the School. 

The Vice President of the Beautiful Heart Foundation, Gad Tunnu advised the students not to be sad as a result of their visual disability but continue to give thanks to the Lord for their lives whilst, working hard to unleash their potentials. 

Members of the Beautiful Heart Foundation also helped to distribute the sanitary pads to some of the female students after the presentation to the School. 

A section of the students who were given the pads as a sign of appreciation in a chorus said “God bless the Beautiful Heart Foundation, yeah!!!”
