DVLA charges leadership of political parties to engage qualified drivers during campaigns

As political parties crisscross the country canvassing for votes, the Board Chairman of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, DVLA, Brigadier General Ishmael Quartey, has advised leadership of the various political parties to get the right type of vehicles and up to date valid licenses to minimise road accidents during this period of electioneering. 

He said they should also insist that drivers the parties engage drive the vehicles which correspond with the category of license they have. 

Brigadier Quartey said this at a National Road Safety Forum with Political Parties in Accra. 

He noted that six people die every day due to avoidable road accidents a development which does not augur well for the country.

Brigadier General Ishmael Quartey said DVLA will prosecute any political party which uses special number plates without proper registration.

According to Brigadier Quartey the DVLA has introduced mobile vans which are moving from place to place to renew licenses. 

Those who are busy can take advantage of the mobile vans to register.
