Hillary Clinton calls on Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte to show more respect to Barack Obama

U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has stressed the need for ties with the Philippines to be based on mutual respect. 

This comes after the Philippines President  Rodrigo Duterte, referred to President Barack Obama as a son of a whore, thereby raising concern about the future of the key alliance.
 
Despite U.S. dismay over Mr. Duterte's  remarks, current and former U.S. officials played down the impact, saying they do not expect any serious damage to ties at a time of high tensions over China's extensive territorial claims in Asia.
