Veep Amissah-Arthur appeals for new term for President Mahama


Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has appealed to Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President John Dramani Mahama for another four years to enable him to continue with the systematic development of the country. 

He said the President has laid the necessary foundation for a better Ghana with job opportunities for the youth. 

Addressing the Gonja Traditional Council in Damango, Vice President Amissah-Arthur said President Mahama needs continuity in his agenda of Changinglives and "TransformingGhana", which has seen massive infrastructural projects across the country. 

He said the President cannot develop the whole country at a go but assured Ghanaians that government will provide every community with its fair share of development. 

Mr. Amissah-Arthur urged Ghanaians to continue to have confidence and hope in President Mahama.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur described this year’s campaign for the election as a determination of the country’s great future and its priorities for the next four years. 

He said all this important exercise requires peace and stability. 

This is because it is the foundation for the economic and social development of the country. 

He said President Mahama believes in the peace and stability of the country and he is determined to protect it for progress to take place.

The Vice President of the Gonja Traditional Council and Buipewura, Abdulai Jinapor, described Mr. Amissah-Arthur’s courtesy call and interaction with the chiefs as historic. 

He thanked President Mahama for the numerous development projects his government has brought to the Gonjaland especially the Fufulso-Sawla road which has opened up the areas for brisk commercial activities. 

Meanwhile, the Gonja Traditional Council has restated its faith and confidence in President Mahama. 

Speaking in turns at the council’s meeting in Damango, the chiefs were unanimous in their praise for the numerous projects the Mahama government has been able to accomplish in four years. 

They therefore assured President Mahama of another four years to enable him to continue with the good works he is doing for mother Ghana. 

The chiefs stated categorically that they never endorsed NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo when he paid courtesy calls on them in their palaces. 

He said the misinformation is causing a lot of anxiety among Gonjas especially those in other regions and have been calling them to find out of the authenticity or otherwise of the story. 

The Kpembewura, Haruna Daari, who is the latest Gonja chief reported to have endorsed Nana Addo said it is a taboo for a Gonja to disgrace or betray a Gonja. 

He said President Mahama deserves another four years in view of his tremendous performance in government. 

He said Gonjaland and Ghana as a whole in almost four years under President Mahama has seen massive development. 

Therefore, when given another four years he will do more Ghana.
