Mixed Reaction To November 7 Election Date Rejection

Political parties have expressed varied opinions on Parliament's rejection of the bill changing the Election date from December 7, to November 7. 

General Secretary of the NDP, Mohammed Frimpong reiterated the Party's stance, saying it is not surprised at Parliament's decision, adding it will favour the EC since the voters’ register has many unresolved issues. 

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Party, Nii Allotey Brew Hammond also expressed surprise at the decision by Parliament. 

He said the date had earlier been accepted by all and express surprised at NPP's rejection of the date. 

In a related development, a lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Evans Aggrey Darko, is not surprised at parliament's decision. 

In his opinion, one of the best ways to develop a solid democracy is to build consensus on essential issues.
