IGP initiates proactive measures to ensure smooth elections 2016

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. John Kudalor says the Police Service is leaving no stone unturned in the implementation of proactive measures in ensuring the smooth conduct of this year’s general election. 

He said this forms part of plans earmarked for smooth and credible conduct of the election. 

He charged police officers to be professional and impartial in the performance of their duties. 

He warned that the police administration will not hesitate in disciplining any police officer found culpable or acting contrary to the laws of the Service. 

Dr. Kudalor said this when he interacted with the police officers and  men of the Volta Regional Command and the media as part of his working visit to the Volta Region. 

He reiterated that as law enforcers, their actions or in-actions will either have positive or negative effect on the outcome of the election.  

He therefore cautioned them to be professional in the discharge of their duties. 

Dr. John Kudalor urged the police to ensure that they support and collaborate with the media and always assist them with the necessary and rightful information to ensure peace in Ghana. 

He commended the Volta Regional Commander, ACP Redeemer Vincent Dedjoe for working hard to reduce the crime rate in the Municipality.  

ACP Redeemer Vincent Dedjoe, assured the IGP that they have put in place election task force to help them in providing security before, during and after the election. 

He said this year’s election is not a do or die affair and the police are working hard to render the so-called 114 flash points in the Volta region invalid. 

The Regional Commander disclosed that 1997 police officers are ready to be deployed during the election but this will need support from the other security agencies to provide the needed security.
