Government assures of peace, security and stability Government has asked the security agencies to take firm action against persons whose utterances and actions threaten the peace, security and stability of the State. The government's order followed the recent use of abusive language by some individuals on Judges and the Electoral Commission. A statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Prosper Bani condemned such utterances which it said were offensive and irresponsible. It applauded the swift action taken by the BNI to invite the panelists of an Accra based Radio Station, saying it will ensure the safety and security of members of the Judiciary. The statement takes note of the inflammatory language by MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong against the Chairperson of the EC. It gave the assurance that there are measures to improve the personal security of the EC Chairperson. Government said it will not shirk its responsibility to protect the peace and security of the country. The statement reminded media owners that they are subject to laws pertaining to national security, public order, the protection of reputations and rights and freedoms of others. GBC
