SSNIT operations improved due to ICT-SSNIT Boss

The Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson says the operations of the Trust has improved massively due to the application of ICT.  

He however, stressed that Technology alone will not suffice if the Staff do not have the right attitudes and do not work hard to complement the efficiency engendered by the use of technology.  

The SSNIT Director General said this in a speech read for him at the fifth Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the SSNIT Senior Staff Association in Sunyani.  

Radio Ghana’s Correspondent, John Sam-Arthur reports that on the Agenda for the Quadrennial Conference was the election of Executives to steer the affairs of the Senior Staff Association for the next four years.  

According to Sam-Arthur, it was also to give Participants the opportunity of brainstorming on how to make the Senior Staff more effective in their management roles. 

In attendance were Members from all over the Country.  

The theme; for the two day affair was "Efficient and Effective Pension Administration through Technology". 

Mr. Thompson, noted that the Trust has evolved from a manual platform to a fully automated system.  

He continued that thanks to ICT tremendous changes like a drastic reduction in delays in pension payments and occurrence of mistakes have been ensured.  

He continued that the use of technology should engender efficiency in their work as Pension Administrators. 
 
He however, stressed that the use of technology would not achieve much if the People using the technology do not show the desired attitude of working to achieve higher heights.  

The outgoing President of the SSNIT Senior Staff Association, Emmanuel Peter Brown, drew the attention of the Conference to the fact that the existence of their Association is not backed by law.  

He therefore called for this to be rectified in order to make it sustainable and less dependent of the SSNIT Union.  

He described the Senior Staff Association as the think tank of SSNIT and called for more training of the Staff to ensure rapid growth.  

The General Manger in charge of Investments at SSNIT, Noel Addo, in an address also stressed that members of the Senior Staff Association play a crucial role in Management and must therefore be good leaders in their own right to be effective.  

He also commended the Trust for using technology to improve its operations.
