Police Service will ensure peaceful elections- IGP 

The Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor says the Police Service would not leave any stone unturned to ensure peaceful elections come November. 

The IGP was addressing a durbar of police Officers in Cape Coast as part of his visit to the Central Region to assess the level of preparedness of its command in terms of training of personnel and logistics ahead of the elections. 

He cautioned police personnel against taking partisan positions and rather be fair and firm in the discharge of their duties during the period. 

He announced that personnel nominated to serve as security details for flag bearers and running mates of the political parties, have completed training and the service would start posting them to begin work this month.  

The Regional Police Commander, ACP Kwame Takyi Poku in his welcome address said the region is relatively peaceful and that the command is prepared and would do all in its power to maintain the peace during the election.

He said out of 2,006 polling stations in the region, 464 have been designated as flash point and that one thousand and sixteen personnel have been trained in public order management and crowd control, to be augmented by sister security agencies, to work during the elections.
