Court orders BNI to release JB's alleged killer into police custody

An Accra Magistrate Court has ordered the BNI to release the alleged murderer of the Abuakwa North MP, Daniel Asiedu, to Police custody since the reasons for keeping him in the BNI cell are no longer necessary. 

This follows an application by counsel for the accused, Augustine Obour for a change in the remand warrant of his client. 

He argued that since the arrest of Asiedu last February, he has been in BNI custody. 

Mr Obuor said the reason he was kept there was for the prosecution to finish investigations.

The prosecutor, Superintendent Francis Baah told the Court presided over by Steven Owusu that investigations into the case are almost over and that a duplicate docket will be sent to the Attorney General's Department for advice.

The trial continues on the 4th of next month.
