Health Ministry moves to check spread of meningitis virus The Ministry of Health says for the past four weeks, there have not been any new cases of meningitis in the country. At a media briefing in Accra, the Minister for Health, Alex Segbefia said the ministry will continue to enhance laboratory and surveillance capacity development and offer rapid response to the meningitis virus. About 2,184 meningitis cases were recorded in nine regions, early this year. According to the ministry, out of this number 93 deaths were recorded with the Brong Ahafo Region being the most affected. Mr Segbefia said with the multiple response actions and interventions that were put in place, the spread and its related deaths have been halted. GBC
