State funeral for murdered NPP MP for Abuakwa North, J.B Danquah Adu begins


The remains of the late Abuakwa North NPP MP, JB Danquah Adu, have been conveyed to his home town after he was laid in state Friday morning at the forecourt of the State House in Accra. 

There will be a state-supported funeral and burial for him Saturday at his home town, Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region. 

President Mahama, Parliamentarians, government officials and a section of the public paid their last respect. 

J.B Danquah Adu was murdered on Tuesday February 5, 2016, in his home at East Legon by a 19-year-old man who is currently facing trial for robbery and murder. 

The late MP is described by his colleagues as honest, friendly and selfless.

Government described the late J.B. Danquah Adu as an inspiration to the youth of Ghana as he diligently combined his entrepreneurial and political careers to the development of the nation.  

In a tribute on behalf of government at the funeral of the late MP, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology for Innovation, Mahama Ayariga said, the late MP's life was one of hope for the youth to create jobs for a secure future.  

He said what marked him out was the decency with which he carried out his work as a politician.
