15th April, 2016 The Daily Graphic is excited about Saturday’s visit by the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People`s Political consultative conference, Yu Zhengsheng. The paper believes the visit will strengthen the relationship between Ghana and China. The Graphic says Ghana and China have always supported each other on issues concerning their core and major interest, keeping close cooperation in the international and regional arenas, with a focus on South-South co-operation. The paper says China is one of the largest trading partners of Ghana, with China - Ghana trade volumes hitting about six point six billion in 2015. For this reason, the Graphic says it welcomes Chairman Yu and hopes the visit will open more doors for the country. The Ghanaian Times also welcomes Chairman Yu Zhengsheng. According to the Paper, Ghana and China have had cordial relations dating back to the era of their great leaders Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Chairman Mao. It says Ghanaians consider China as true friends, adding that the visit is significant because it will bring fresh impetus to relations between the two countries. The Today Newspaper calls on government to fast-track the passage of the Right to Information bill into law to ensure prudent management of the economy. The paper believes that when the bill becomes law it will not only benefit the public but will greatly empower the press to bring to light the works of the ruling government. It says the bill will provide an enhanced and enabling climate for the realisation of other fundamental human rights since in principle it is connected to the right to shelter, water and basic infrastructure and the right to development. The Daily Heritage calls on the national security apparatus to move straight to the local Flight section at the Kotoko International Airport and put the place in order. The paper says some security officials from the airport have complained bitterly about the developments there and lamented that several complaints to management for improved security gadgets have yielded no results. The Heritage acknowledged that security in the country has generally been beefed up to ward off any terrorist attack in the coming days as predicted by Prophet T.B Joshua, and confirmed by national security through its leaked terror alert document. The Heritage is concerned about the very porous system at the airport since anybody can easily gain entry without a single search. GBC
