National cyber Security seminar underway in Accra

The Minister of Communication, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah says as part of effort to promote an exclusive information society, government is expanding internet connectivity to help achieve the 2020 Sustainable Development Goals.  

He said in a developing country like Ghana, internet connectivity must be given the needed attention to help bridge the digital divide. 

Dr Omane Boamah was speaking at the United States Telecommunication Training Institute Seminar on national cyber security in Accra. 

The Institute since its inception in 1982 has rolled out over 2,000 programmes, which have benefited over 10,000 people at no cost. 

Out of the 171 countries that participated in the programmes, Ghana has the highest alumni. 

The Executive Director of the Institute James O'Cornnor was hopeful that the participants will share the knowledge they will acquire at the conference to help curb cyber crime. 

He urged the public to use the internet 
judiciously.
