Call to strengthen fight against FGM  

The Inter-African Committee has appealed to all its partners, government and civil society organisation to strengthen the fight against the perpetuation of female genital mutilation, FGM as the world observes the day today.  

A statement signed by its Executive Director,  Morisanda Kouyate, said though progress has been made in the fight against the practice, they should not relent in their effort to ensure the total elimination of the practice.   

It said investing in the fight for the elimination of female genital mutilation and other harmful traditional practices through education and protection of the environment will no doubt lead to sustainability in the improvement of human life.
