Avram Grant confirmed as new Black Stars coach

The Ghana Football Association has announced the appointment of Avram Grant as the new Black Stars coach.

Grant's contract takes effect on 1 December 2014 after he agreed to a two-year deal to become the head coach.

Grant, aged 54, has previously coached Clubs in Israel and Chelsea.

"All outstanding issues with Mr Grant have been cleared and we believe he is the right man for the job," said GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi at a press conference on Thursday in Accra.

The Ghana job is a second international assignment for Grant who coached Israel between 2002 to 2006.

Grant has also had spells in charge of West Ham United and Portsmouth.

Grant's most recent job was at Partizan Belgrade where he guided the team to the Serbian title before resigning with a year remaining on his contract.
