NDC closes nominations for National positions

The NDC closed the filing of nominations for the national executive positions yesterday after an extension of time from 5 pm to 7 pm.

The extension was due to the large number of candidates in queue to file their nominations.

There were very interesting scenarios at the NDC headquarters when some aspirants filed their nominations.

First were what appeared to be factions in the party.

These were the Kofi Portuphy camp including former Hearts Chairman Harry Zakour, Anthony Gyampo, Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams, and Kamel Noshie who is vying for Treasurer.

That of the Asiedu Nketiah camp had Koku Anyidoho, Yaw Boateng Gyan and Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Another interesting development is that Johnson Asiedu Nketiah who was to go unopposed now has a contender.

Issac Farouk, a branch Secretary at Obuasi has stepped in and hopes to take the spot from General Mosquito.

Meanwhile, the party will hold a press conference today to announce the number of candidates vying for the positions and other related issues. 

About 110 individuals filed their nominations to contest the NDC's National Executives positions. 

The Vetting Committee is expected to pick the submitted forms on Monday and subsequently fix a date for vetting to start.

The National Organiser of the Party, Yaw Boateng Gyan, told Radio Ghana that printing of ballot papers will immediately start after vetting.
