Informal sector joins TUC to protect interest of workers

To protect the interest of workers in the informal sector, the Union of Informal Workers Associations has joined the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

The Deputy Secretary General of the Congress, Dr Yaw Baah said the formation of the Union will enable the informal workers to have a voice since policy makers have not provided any framework for labour welfare.

Dr Yaw Baah noted that the unemployment issue can be resolved by the informal sector since they absorb a larger chunk of the country's work force.

He said this at a media briefing in Accra on Tuesday.
