Expert shoots down suggestions to deploy military at Ghana’s ports

Following the arrest of a Ghanaian lady at Heathrow Airport for alleged smuggling of narcotics substances believed to be cocaine to the UK, a number of theories are being propounded as to how security should be handled at the country's ports.

 A Senior Fellow on Peace and Security Studies at LECIAD, Dr Ken Ahorsu says the proposal that soldiers should man the airports is misplaced.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, he said soldiers are trained to handle different situations, therefore such a proposition does not hold water.

Dr Ahorsu indicated that the drug business is assuming a notorious proportion, hence the need to implement strategic measures to nib it in the bud.

He made some proposals.
