GFA confirms Avram Grant as Black Stars coach on Thursday

Barring any last minute hitch, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee is expected to confirm the appointment of Avram Grant as the new Black Stars coach on Thursday.

This comes after Ghana’s Sports Ministry approved the appointment of the ex-Chelsea manager as coach of the Ghana national team.

The approval from government paves the way for the Executive Committee to table its offer to the Israeli coach despite the problems he may encounter with his passport.

Grant is expected to earn a monthly salary of $50,000 as well as a signing fee of over $200,000. 

Grant, 59, has been widely touted by the Ghanaian media as front runner for the vacant Black Stars job, following what was regarded as an impressive display before the Ghana FA’s interview panel in October.

However, in an interview with Radio Ghana, a football analyst Christopher Opoku says Avram Grant's approval by the Ministry of Youth and Sports indicates that an effort has been made to rectify the difficulties surrounding his passport.
