Youth & Sports Minister Yet To Furnish Parliament With Expenditure For Brazil 2014


The Minister of Youth and Sports is still yet to furnish Parliament with the exact figure which was realized for the nation’s participation in the World cup. 

The sector Minister, Mahama Ayariga was in parliament to provide the total cost incurred on the Black Stars in Brazil. 

He however, could not give all the money given by especially corporate Ghana towards the Stars’ participation in the football mondial. 

Mr. Ayariga said since the house posed a specific question on the stars, he will need time to get the details on corporate sponsorship proceeds.

Radio Ghana's Parliamentary Correspondents Dominic Hlordzi and Augustus Acquaye report that the Minister of Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga told Parliament that the commission of inquiry will be in a better stead to provide more information on Brazil 2014 in their report. He however gave details of the amount spent of the players. 

He noted that as per the directive of the Justice Dzamefe commission, the Ministry is putting the refunded money from FIFA in a separate account.

Meanwhile, When came to the Minister of Health will on Thursday brief MPs on the status of the implementation of the National Health Insurance nationwide. 

It will be recalled that the minister was in the house on the 13th of this month on the same issue but his answers were not satisfactory and so was instructed to come in a couple of weeks to better inform members. 

The special committee set up by the Speaker to investigate the frequent power outages in Parliament will also present its report next Tuesday to parliamentarians behind closed doors.
