Boko Haram kills dozens in 'despicable' Nigeria attack

At least 20 people have been killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack in northeast Nigeria. 

Officials say the attack happened in the village of Azaya Kura in the Mafa area of Borno. 

The caretaker chairman of Mafa local government area, Shettima Lawan described the attack as wicked and despicable. 

Mafa, which is about 50 kilometres east by road from the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, has been repeatedly attacked by the armed group. 

In the attack, heavily armed fighters arrived on motorcycles around midday as the villagers were at work. 

Fifty people are reported to have been injured in the attack.
