Ashanti Region Records Mixed Fortunes In Agricultural Production The Ashanti Region has recorded mixed fortunes in agricultural production this season as a result of various factors. According to the Regional Director of Agriculture, Kwaku Mintah Fordjour, while there has been significant increase in livestock, root tuber and plantain production, yield of the cereals particularly maize has seen a decline due to the erratic rainfall pattern. Speaking in an interview with Radio Ghana in Kumasi, the Regional Director disclosed that the poultry sub-sector recorded an increase of about 500,000 birds in the production of broilers. 7,000 new pigs were also raised between May and October this year.
