Minister Of Finance Presents 2015 Budget Statement To Parliament Today

Finance Minister Seth Terkper is set to present next year's budget to parliament on Wednesday. 

Many expectations of what the budget should contain have been expressed in different fora. 

While many expect to know what the oil money has been used for, others just want an end to the country's economic crisis. 

On Radio Ghana’s “Behind The News”, the First Vice Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Prosper Adablah urged government to make the 2015 Financial Statement to empower private sector development. 

He advocated the creation of an infrastructural fund for SME's and also called for direct policies to control the activities of the banking sector to reduce banking rate. 

The Minority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu also called for an increased investment in the agricultural and Industrial sectors. 

He said Wednesday’s budgets must therefore address this issue to save the sectors from collapse. 

He called for the expansion of the tax net. 

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Finance, James Avedzi said he expects a deficit budget which must not go beyond eight percent. 

He said the focus must be on improving the Agricultural and Industrial sectors so that the level of import is reduced, and more focus given to home grown production of goods.

Meanwhile, residents in Tema are expecting the government to bring out a comprehensive budget as the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper, presents the 2015 estimate budget before Parliament on Wednesday. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, they said previous budgets have not yielded positive results.
