Global Terrorism on the rise - Study Statistics from the Institute of Economic and Peace dubbed "Global Terrorism Index " indicates that 18,000 people died through violent means in 2013. The figure stood at 13,000 in 2012. Countries such as Pakistan, Syria and Nigeria ranked high in the report. Speaking to Radio Ghana, an International Relations and security Expert, Irbard Ibrahim, says the figure presents a worrying trend to world peace and security. He said for the numbers to drop, issues such as social injustice, youth unemployment and racism must be tackled. Commenting on the call by the Ermir of Kano, Sanusi, Lamudi's call for the citizenry to fight Boko Haram head on, Mr. Ibrahim said it is in the right direction. He noted that the Holy Koran abhors the actions of the militants and it is high time they are dealt with. He conceded that it will not be a walk in the park. Source: GBC
