Former National Service Boss Granted Bail

The Former Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed Imoro has finally been granted bail by the Financial Court in Accra. 

He was given a bail condition of 90 million Ghana cedis with three sureties, all to be justified. One of the sureties is also expected to own a property valued at one million Ghana cedis.

The presiding judge, Georgina Mensah Datsa granted the bail upon a plea by the lawyer for Alhaji Imoro who has been in custody since his arrest last month.

The trial which began at the Circuit Court was transferred to the High Court on the advice of the Attorney General.

Alhaji Imoro is alleged to have stolen more than 86 million Ghana cedis belonging to the state between September, 2013 and July, 2014.

According to investigations by the BNI, more than twenty two thousand ghost names were generated at the National Service Secretariat which resulted in the loss of more than seven million Ghana Cedis in July, 2014 alone. 

Alhaji Imoro has pleaded not guilty to stealing and is expected back in court on 8th December.
